This is a beautiful necklace and earring set which I created in celebration of the Chinese New Year. This year, beginning on 2/9/2005 will be the start of the year which celebrates the year of the rooster. My necklace is made of a dark blue double stranded silk, to which there is a large, round, 15mm ceramic ball which has been painted with the image of the rooster and red flowers. This piece can be worn at any time or any year without reference to the specific New Year Celebration The necklace is 30" long and is completely adjustable by maneuvering the silk knot at the back of the neck. Attached to the necklace are a pair of New Jade cylinder beads, both approximately 10.5mm and a pair of beads (8mm) that dangle from two blue cords (2.5mm and 3.5mm). The necklace also has macrame' knots and twisted silk for approximately four inches on both sides of the necklace. This necklace also comes with matching earrings. All metal parts in the earrings are sterling silver. The beads in the earrings match the beads in the necklace dangles and are attached to traditional fish hook ear wires. This set is very beautiful and unusual, to say the least! Definitely a conversation starter. I'd like to mention that the silk I used is very strong and extremely soft against your skin
