Nice Early Ships Bell on stand. This is quite a spectacular piece for the nautical connoisseur. The bell is made of a silvered bell metal. It’s no doubt off of a ship but it doesn’t say which one. There is an early hand forged anchor that is strung with wire on to the holder. I believe that it was original tied around the end of the clapper. The surface condition of the bell is a little bit dirty. The bell is mounted on a contemporary hard wood stand and is not original to the bell at all, but it works well for the display. The bell measures 13” in diameter (of the bottom opening) and 14 ½”h. The stand measures 30”w x 28 ½”h x 20”deep. Overall this piece weighs a ton. The bell defiantly dates from the 19th Century.
