Here is one of my favorite subjects CATS! This painting is so quaint and cute – these two little cuddly kittens just want some love and affection. As you can see there is a little grey kitten and a little white one. The work is very academic but the subject, frame and use of color is fabulous. I have never before seen a painting quite like this one – I’m not quite sure what it is painted on – I think it is some type of board though it may be tin/metal. This painting also has a very folk art feel - I hope you can see by the pictures that on the upper right and left hand corners of the painting there is real red velvet material that comes down representing a curtain. It is very different and it gives the painting an elegant, interesting and unique touch. It is signed on the lower right hand corner ROSINA. It is housed in a highly decorative carved wood gold gilt frame which is embraced on the outer edges in black. The frame finishes the painting off quite nicely and is very complementary! Overall the condition is very good – the painting is perfect. The frame has some gold gilt wear and there are some hair line cracks in the gold gilt but they are very minute and only noticeable when looking for them. There are also two spots wear the gold gilt is missing and the black exterior trim has three chips. Overall it measures 16 7/8” x 14” and the sight size is 11 ¼” x 8 ½”.
