Antique Bohemian Garnet Pendant Brooch

Bohemian Garnet triple tiered brooch/pendant combination in pristine antique condition. 12.3 grams of jewels in three tiers of rose cut, prong set Bohemian pyrope (Greek meaning "fire like") garnets all set in 900 silver washed with gold. The bottom tier has a scalloped outer edge with an inner cut out star or snowflake shape. Set in the center of the star is the round second tier and the star burst shaped upper tier with a round rose cut bezel set garnet in the center. Each tier is linked together on the back. Attached to the top of the pin is a garnet encrusted flexible bale which flips down to be hidden when worn as a pin. This appears to be original to the piece. The pin has a safety clasp and is stamped 900 G3. The color of garnets ranges from a deep sherry red to a bright port wine red when they sparkle and twinkle in the light.

The following is information from a Rubylane customer from Prague told me about this piece: "Appears to have been made in Graz, Austria near last days of the Austrian Hungarian Empire...which dissolved at end of First World War. Graz was one of the most outstanding silver and gold works cities of Europe and their skilled jewelers had direct contact with Bohemian garnet mines just east of them. (the "3" is usually for the 900 silver count) The clasp's roll over feature however is very modern for that time."

Measures: 1-3/8" in diameter. It hangs just under 1-3/4" long from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant. All stones are secure with no broken or replaced garnets.
