This pendant is made to represent a piece if driftwood I found on the beach at Birch Bay in Washington state. I used the little piece of driftwood to make a mold. This pendant was made by filling the mold with fine silver clay (PMC3). I then inserted the clear Cubic Zirconia into the knot-hole of the pendant and kiln fired the pendant at 1200 degrees to burn away the binder and result in a pure (.999) silver pendant. The pendant is antiqued and hand finished. This pendant is initialed and dated by me on the back, and hallmarked ".999". Fine Silver has a higher silver content than Sterling which is .925. I have been working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) for a few years but only recently learned that it is made from recycling silver used in the film making process. Pure fine silver tarnishes less, and wears better for people with sensitive skin. Fine silver is considered to be softer than Sterling, however my pendants are fired and worked to optimize hardness and should last for many years. This pendant measures about 1 5/8" x 1 1/4" and weighs 21 grams.
The pendant is shown here on an 18" black leather necklace with a Sterling Silver hook clasp. If preferred, I can substitute an 18" Sterling Silver chain (for a small additional cost - email me for information).
