Bittersweet Antiques presents this Fabulous Velo-King Airstream velocipede, AKA tricycle. Although no paint or decals remain to identify it, this trike is an icon of 1930s design.
In 1935, a design patent for a "velocipede", # D94649, was granted to Giles E. Bullock of the E.C. Brown Co. of Rochester, NY, for "a new, original, ornamental Design ..." for this tricycle that was sold under the name: Velo-King Airstream. The design patent is reproduced in the last picture. The seat is labeled Troxel, Elyria, Ohio, Made in USA; however I believe Troxel made seats, not whole bikes. This trike has solid rubber wheels and the front and one of the rear wheels has a crack but are firmly attached to the rims. There is 1 broken spoke on one of the rear wheels. It is missing one handle and the one remaining is only half there. The front fender has a bend right at the top that could be easily straightened if so desired. Personally, I like it just as it is, but it could be restored to its' former glory. The trike stands nearly 2 and 1/2 feet tall, almost 3 feet long, and 18 inches wide from tire to tire.
Shipping will be $45.00 to the lower 48 states. Other destinations at cost.
