Bittersweet Antiques presents this finely crafted formal lamp. This lamp is hard to date, but based on the electrical cord, I would say dates to the 1960's. All of the glass pieces (except the drops) are pressed glass in sharp molds giving sharp crisp ridges and thus a good impression of cut crystal. The lamp rests on a 6 inch square of 3/4 inch thick dark gray marble with white veining. Next is a 5 and 1/2 inch diameter round brass piece with a leaf and berry repeating motif. Next, the first piece of glass, then a brass spacer and then the main globe of glass. This portion is in a "coin dot" type motif and is about 6 inches in diameter. Then another brass spacer and a faceted glass riser to the upper glass bobeche. This 6 and 1/4 diameter piece has a scalloped top and provision for the 8 crystal drops. The crystals consist of an upper 3/4 inch button and a 6 inch "sawtooth" drop. Of the 8 drops, 4 of the sawtooth have some tip damage. Two of the four have lost 1/8 inch or so, enough to notice if you look close, but easy enough to overlook, especially if you turn those to the back. There are also a few nicks to the upper portion of 2 of them, but are small and again easy to overlook. The lamp stands 32 inches to the top finial screw and 23 and 1/2 to the top of the 3-way socket.
