Our selection of American Art Pottery, lamps, and vintage collectibles reflects our personal fascination for collecting.
This statue has good detail from a fresh mold. There are at least seven colors used in her air-brushed decoration. Her long auburn hair is swept back as if she is facing a breeze. She has a wide, teeth showing smile on her detailed face. Her flowing gown is air-brushed in blue and green. She is holding one dog by the collar and is resting her hand on the other's head. I do not recognize the dog breed. The "colorist" chose to highlight the dog's ears, bobbed tails, and paws. The dogs have floppy ears and long hair, but I do not think they are wolfhounds because their snouts are not long enough. In any case, it is an impressive statue and likeness.
There are a few scrapes and chips as can be expected in these chalk figures. To her right, there is a chip on the dog head above the eye, several small dings on the dress, and one rub on the dog's tail. These are not detracting and actually show that the figure has some age and is probably a carnival prize. The bottom is covered in felt that is not original.
Overall, an impressive addition to a chalk ware collection. Her twin is certainly the highlight of my daughter's collection (shown in last photograph).
