Bittersweet Antiques presents this oil on canvas of a Haitian scene by CR Wilson. The painting is signed and dated in the lower left corner. The numbers look to me to be 53, which I take to be 1953. The canvas showing in the frame is 29 and 1/2 by 38 inches. The frame appears original and has a back frame of 1 by 2 wood to give the frame dimension from the wall.

Then there is the painting. I can find nothing on a CR Wilson as a painter. He clearly had talent. The painting was described to me to be a Haitian street scene, and I see no reason this is not probably true. We bought this several years ago simply because we liked it. We will be moving soon, and just as soon start with a blank slate for decorating. She can now grace your wall.

The painting has a few condition problems that are all confined to the edges near the frame. There are several paint flakes in the upper right hand corner, and the right side. All all pictured. The main portion of the painting is is fine shape. There is quite a bit of different amounts of paint that was applied on the canvas, making it difficult for me to take a photograph without glare and reflections from the uneven surface. The sky has craquelure which seems to be intended.

I am not well versed in the language of oil paintings. I will try to answer any questions. The pictures do give a true representation of the painting.
