There are many TV lamps from the 1950s out there. Many are figural in one way or the other. Then there are the "what were they thinking?" kind. This piece from the front, looks similar to many Mid Century planters. However, on the back is a light socket mounting flange. Imagine this sitting on your TV and "watering the ivy". One bit of splash onto that hot light bulb could lead to an unintended fireworks display. Maybe that is why this TV lamp is missing the light socket parts.
This example was produced by Haeger in 1954. They called it Acanthus TV lamp and this is their green agate glaze. The lamp is in excellent, apparently lightly used, condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. The lamp measures 13 and 1/4 inches tip to tip, and stands on a dry footed base that measures 7 inches long and 3 and 1/4 inches at its widest. The height is 6 and 1/4 inches at the center.
