This Roseville 427 jardinière was produced at the turn of the last century. The 427 series was produced in several sizes and this is the 6 inch version. These were usually glazed in a blended fashion that highlighted the plant frond motif that curls up to be the rim pattern. This example however is glazed in a Colonial glaze of mottled blues with gold highlights. This was a glaze used on the Colonial toilet sets of the same period and can be seen on page 99 of the Bomm Roseville book. The 427 jardinière can be seen on page 388 as a set and on page 65.

This example is in exceptional condition. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some crazing present, most noticeable on the bottom and inside rim. The gold highlights are crisp with no evident wear.

The jardiniere stands 5 and 1/2 inches tall, the top is 6 and 1/2 inches in diameter and the bottom is 4 and 1/4 inches in diameter. Clearly marked 427 on the bottom.

In the last picture I have shown it with 2 Roseville pitchers from my personal collection (NFS) that are also in the Colonial glaze.

A finer example of a 427 jardiniere will be hard to find.
