Roseville Early Pitcher "The Owl" pre 1916

Here we have a fine example of the Roseville early utility ware pitcher called "The Owl". These were introduced in 1908 and continued production until 1916 and is one of the more harder to find shapes. I collect these early pitchers and find myself in need to make room for new items.

The pitcher is in fine shape. There is the typical crazing in a few places that develops on these high gloss glazes from normal use and washing and some staining on the front under the spout and on the inside. There is a spout flake along the rim and a couple of spots on the inner rim that are felt more than seen. There are 3 small glaze misses in one of the trees and a spot on the bottom that looks to be a factory defect and not post production. No other chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs.

The pitcher stands 7 and 1/4 inches tall and 7 and 1/2 inches from spout to handle. This is a fine example of a very hard to find pitcher.
