Our selection of American Art Pottery, lamps, and vintage collectibles reflects our personal fascination for collecting.
The Brush-McCoy Stone Art line was one of the more intense hand manipulated lines that the company produced. First the molded blanks were high-fired to produce a very durable product. Then the items were hand decorated by a squeeze bag method, taking several hours each to complete before the second firing.
Two glaze types were produced over several years starting in 1922. Type 1 has a dark blue airbrushed base color and Type 2 which lacks this dark base color, but still has a light blue shading, darker at the top and bottom rims. The interior is glazed in a high gloss light blue to keep candle wax from the pottery.
The 030 candlestick can be seen in the Sanfords Guide to Brush-McCoy, Book 2 on page 13 in a Type 1 glaze. There is a misprint in the text to the bottom picture of the 030 and 033 candlesticks. The 030 is SEVEN inches tall, so the 033 must be at least 10 inches tall. The 027 candlestick is the stated 4 inches tall for a true size comparison of the other candlesticks.
This candlestick is in the Type 2 glaze and is in mint condition. I use the mint designation sparingly but this example looks like it is brand new. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. A better example will be hard to find. I have shown it pictured on all 4 sides as well as top and bottom.
Shipping with insurance will be $25 to the lower 48 states. Other destinations at cost.
