Bittersweet Antiques presents this rare Roseville #718 umbrella stand. It is not marked but it is pictured on a Factory page in the Bomm book, "Roseville in all its Splendor" on page 381. It is definitely Art Nouveau with sweeping, sensual forms of flowers and blended glazing. The umbrella stand is 22 inches tall with a 9 inch opening, hence its catalog listing of 718 9X22. This Haeger flower frog is 3 inches in diameter and stands on 3 feet; one of which has a flake that is not visible when upright. This frog has the early diamond Haeger mark and is know as the No. 8 shape in the early catalogs. This one has a nice two tone glaze of a light lime green on top and a darker green on the side.

Roseville used this form and decorated it in many forms. This one has the 2 Dutchmen smoking cigars on it. The pitcher stands 11 and 1/2 inches tall and has a 4 inch base diameter. The pitcher has all over crazing and a couple of factory blemishes on the body. Also there are 2 old rim repairs that appear as a slight color difference and a hairline to the handle and a small bottom chip. It still displays nicely.

This Roseville 427 jardinière was produced at the turn of the last century. The 427 series was produced in several sizes and this is the 6 inch version. These were usually glazed in a blended fashion that highlighted the plant frond motif that curls up to be the rim pattern. This example however is glazed in a Colonial glaze of mottled blues with gold highlights. Roseville made a number of pitchers in the early part of the 20th century. This one is the Wild Rose pattern in a blue and white sponged glaze and stands the standard 9 and 1/2 inches tall. There is overall crazing and glaze chips on the bottom rim and top. There is also a crack in the handle and a few tight hairlines on the rim. Displays nicely, even with the faults from a used utility pitcher. This is the only sponged example of this classic Roseville pitcher I have ever seen.

This pitcher is one of the few that Roseville did in the now popular blue and white colors. Made prior to 1916, it features an embossed Holland windmill and a sailboat on the shore. The pitcher stands 8 and 1/4 inches tall. There are several hairline cracks and and fleabites at the rim and a couple of chips to the base. Still displays nicely and is relatively hard to find.

Rare is an adjective that I hesitate to use with any collectible, but in this case it does apply. This Roseville jardiniere I have only seen in a catalog page. It is not in either of the Mark Bassett Roseville books, but is shown on a catalog page in the Bomm "Roseville in All Its Splendor" book on page 393. The jardiniere stands 7 and 1/2 inches tall and is 8 and 7/8 inches across the top opening. The bottom is clearly incised with the 478 designation and shows where the bottom glaze drips were ...
