SALE Royal Copley Bird on Apple Planter

$37 USD SaleSALE Royal Copley Bird on Apple Planter

Pottery:Royal Copley
Although we love retro and MCM, we tend to live in older homes and decorate in a preWWII not post war manner. We are therefore offering most of our MCM items here on Ruby Lane to make room for things we can display in our more Arts and Crafts decorating style. This is a nice Royal Copley bird on an apple planter. The planter stands 6 and 1/2 inches tall and 6 and 1/2 inches wide. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs but close inspection reveals some fine crazing in the clear high gloss top ...

Although we love retro and MCM, we tend to live in older homes and decorate in a preWWII not post war manner. We are therefore offering most of our MCM items here on Ruby Lane to make room for things we can display in our more Arts and Crafts decorating style. Although this bird has the position and shape of a whip-o-will, the decorator chose to give the bird more of a Baltimore Oriole coloration in yellow, a dark, almost black green, and burnt orange highlights. The planter stands 6 and 1/4 ...

Hyalyn was established in Hickory, North Carolina in 1947 by Leslie Moody and is currently overlooked by many collectors. There is to be a book on Hyalyn so this oversight may soon be alleviated. They produced high fired pieces with a variety of nice glazes and later made mainly dish lines. The pottery expert and writer Mark Bassett collects Hyalyn and has identified this lamp as an early Hyalyn product produced for Rembrandt Lamps, the maker of the lamp parts. This example is in fine condition. ...
