This original, hand colored, copperplate engraving - The Hen Gross Beak from Virginia - is from: A Natural History of Birds, With Copper Plates, Curiously Engraven From the Life. Published By the Author and Carefully Color'd By His Daughter And Self (The French Edition). It was published by Eleazar Albin in 1750. This book plate on hand laid, watermarked paper, measures 9.25" X 11.25" with a platemark at 7.5" X 10.25". It is in excellent condition with only the slightest age toning at the sheet's edges.
