This crystal and glass cabochon necklace and earrings set is described in a 1993 Avon booklet presenting the "Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Collection". It is a tribute to Taylor's "unquenchable spirit" and a "celebration in crystal of the beauty within all women", according to the booklet.

In the early 1990s, one of the world's most legendary actresses of all time collaborated with Avon to create limited edition costume jewelry recreating some of her personal pieces, as well as pieces inspired by her — like this set (I have included a photo of the actress wearing it).

"When the designs are gorgeous, the craftsmanship meticulous . . . faux can be fabulous, too!" Taylor quips about her jewelry. As the Elizabeth Taylor collection has long been discontinued, the pieces are increasingly harder to find.

You can probably find the Eternal Flame necklace or earrings separately these days, but hardly together, and probably scarcer still in their original boxes.

The necklace is a perfect circle of stylized goldtone flames, pavéd with sparkly rhinestones. The hook closure at the ends is hidden and does not break the continuous chain of flames.

The earrings feature crystal-pavéd flames that seem to flicker above a gilt base decked out with a large glass ruby cabochon and smaller glass turquoise cabochons.

The necklace measures 15 1/2" long x 3/4" wide. The earrings are 1 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide. All pieces are stamped a stylized "E" for Elizabeth within an oval plaque.

In excellent, probably not ever used, condition. The original owner was a collector of Elizabeth Taylor jewelry (check out other listings that I will be posting shortly from this collector).

Both the necklace and earrings come in their original boxes, in Taylor's trademark lavender color, with gold "E" and other letterings. Also included are the soft flannel pouches for the pieces, as well as sleeves that the boxes came in, marked with the "Eternal Flame Necklace" and "Eternal Flame Earrings".

Can't get any better than this, whether you're a fan of the beloved actress or of fabulous fake jewelry. Also perfect for gift-giving.
