Hail to the elephant! The biggest creature to walk the earth, it is also perhaps the most glorified around the world. The elephant is a symbol of ultimate strength, power and wealth, of patience and wisdom, and good luck. Revered as sacred in parts of Asia; it is also a hardy animal for the fields and to carry people around. In the United States, it's also taken on a strange symbolism, as the mascot of the Republican Party.

Here is a regal elephant's head pin befitting the mammal's exalted position.

By Jomaz, or Joseph Mazer, our elephant pin is gilt and huge and wears a stunning headdress of faux rubies, diamonds and turquoise.

The pin is a 3-D profile of an elephant head, turned to one side and showing off a massive ear, trunk and tusk. It is wearing on a triangular-shaped headdress that has alternating bands of faux diamond rhinestones, ruby glass cabochons, and green enamel.

Its eye is black enamel and pavé rhinestones, and its trunk and the underside of its raised trunk, ivory enamel.

Measures 3 1/4" x 2", with a textured gilt back and a locking c-clasp. Signed Jomaz.

Most probably from the '60s, when Jomaz produced a "menagerie" of adorable, sometimes whimsical, creatures, big and small. (Check out the "Frog Prince" pin listed in the store, too). It is in excellent condition, with all original stones and a rich gold-plating. Minimal wear.

This pin is the largest of Jomaz's animal pins I've come across, perhaps a homage to this venerable animal's stature.
