Such is this uniquely-designed chunky "chicklet" or lozenge dangle earrings, in a striking chartreuse and turquoise color combination.
According to my research, this '60s pair is a prototype creation that was never mass-produced. The only other that I found is a demi (necklace and earrings, different color combination) that was a gift by the Haskell company to the fashion director of the top department store Marshall Fields (now Macy's), for a successful promo campaign. The demi has a price tag of nearly $2200, and it is dubbed as a one-of-a-kind piece of history.
This pair is exactly like the earrings in the demi, probably one of only a few that exist.
The earrings feature awesome lozenge-shaped glass beads, aptly dubbed chicklets, in a turquoise or aqua shade. They are the dangles in a series of large loops, made of vivid chartreuse glass beads. The bead loops cascade from an inverted triangle top that is hand-wired with alternating bands of aqua glass beads and chartreuse roses monteés.
The earrings are almost three inches long, or 2 3/4". Laid on a surface and all spread out, almost 4" wide, but dangling from the ears, they're about 2 1/2" wide.
The earrings have an inverted triangle goldplated base, plus Haskell's trademark filigree. Have screw-in clipbacks that are marked Miriam Haskell on the contact point, and stamped with the patent number on the stem.
The earrings are in excellent condition, with hardly any wear. On a couple of chicklet beads, some minor scuffs that may have been there since inception (as it is a prototype, it may not have been as finished as a piece that was marketed).
