Red is passion, affection, lust. Sin and evil. Courage and sacrifice. Danger, happiness, fortune, death. Beauty . . . there are probably more than 1,001 ways we associate with the color red. That's how much it permeates our lives . . . how much we love it!

Here's a Christian Dior red demi that's easy to love. Made of speckled red art glass cabochons and rhinestones, it's bright and cheerful, and positively beautiful!

This one's from the '50s and marked with one of the rarer logos, "Christian Dior by Kramer". From the '50s to the '60s, Dior commissioned some of the great costume jewelry designers to create some of his pieces: Henry Schreiner, Mitchell Maer, and Kramer of New York.

Not too many of these collaborative pieces around, so they are highly collectible. In Judith Miller's "Costume Jewelry", an example brooch and earrings demi set marked Christian Dior by Kramer is valued at $600-$700!

Our demi set consists of a bracelet and dangle earrings, both of them with graduated sizes of marbled red art glass cabochons.

On the bracelet, the biggest of the cabochons (almost 3/4" x 3/4" round) has pronounced marbling and speckling. It is flanked by marbled cabochons that gradually decrease in size, down to just 3/8" x 3/8" closest to the hidden push-in clasp.

Each cabochon is held by pretty French decorative prongs in antiqued silvertone. A pair of glitzy rhinestones separate each red stone. The bracelet measures slightly over 6 1/2" long, and it has a safety chain as well.

Each dangle earring has a trio of red cabochons, ranging in size from 3/8" round to 5/8" round. Each stone is also accented by glitzy rhinestones. The earrings are 2" long and are clipbacks.

Only the bracelet is marked, Christian Dior by Kramer. The earrings are an unmistakable match. Pretty open-back "pie crust" setting for the stones.

Excellent condition, with little wear. The art glass cabochons can't be any better, and in that red color, just unbeatable!
