Plaque measures 19" x 17" the lion's head is 5" x 4" the whole assembly measuring 28" high
This highly decorative Trophy Plaque is inscribed on its banner as follows:
" Presented by the Canadian Hunter Saddle & Light Horse Improvement Society to 1st Prize Hunter Foundation Mare - Brampton Fall Fair 1928"
The imposing shield is the Coat of Arms of Canada. Aside from the elements found in the British Royal Coat of Arms it features the symbols of Canada which are the Maple Leaf, the fleur-de-lis as well as the standards of English & French Canada and the Latin motto for "FROM SEA TO SEA". It measures 11.5" x 9" ( 29.3 x 23cm ). It was pressed & molded from some type of composite material typical of that era. The lion head consists of the same. They were coated with a silver paint finish which has dulled over the years. I've used a bit of silver paste to bring out some highlights. The engraved banner is silver plated metal. All is mounted on a solid wooden & lacquered plaque.
There is no damage or repair, the black finish is original and without blemish. The chains are rusty and could use a cleaning.
