12.25" high x 12" wide from handle to handle. 3 HANDLES, SILVER PLATED.

The proud history of this Regiment dates back to 1862. Company "K" was organized in 1872.

I'm attaching a paragraph from the website of the "NEW YORK STATE MILITARY MUSEUM and Veteran's Research Center, NYS Division of Military and Naval Affairs"

"This regiment, located in Brooklyn, E. D., is still in existence. Its Companies A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I were organized in 1862, and Company K in 1872. Company C was disbanded in 1878, and Companies G and H in 1863. A new Company G was organized in 1864, and a new Company H in 1878; the latter was disbanded in 1885. April 28, 1898, the regiment was authorized to organize as a twelve-company regiment preparatory to its entry into the United States service, in which service it was mustered as the 47th Regiment, N. Y. Volunteer Infantry, May 24, 1898, and mustered out March 31, 1899. Companies C, H, L and M were disbanded April 24, 1899, and new Companies C and H organized April 24, 1899".

The trophy is of imposing size & weight. It is 3-handled. It is engraved on 2 sides and features the Regiment's enameled emblem along with a large raised K on the 3rd. Highly raised bowling balls and crossed bowling pins embellish the foot of the cup. One side features an engraving of a bowler about to drop the ball. Another side is extensively engraved in a variety of type faces & fonts.

This engraved text reads as follows:

BOWLING TOURNAMENT 1904-1905 Presented by 47th REGT. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION N.G.N.Y. won by COMPANY "K" ....Team Captain Sergt. Ge.W.H. Hudtwalker, 1st Sergt. C.H. Lockwood, Private L.J. McComb, Corp. W.D. Ker, Corp. A.A.Turner"

The trophy is in excellent condition. No dents or gouges. It sits level. The plating is intact with the exception of some minor losses here and there. Due to the fact that the cup was given a protective lacquer coating at point of manufacture it now SHINES! My silversmith removed the coating which had yellowed and gave it a professional polish. The black areas in my photos are far less obvious when the trophy is viewed in reality. An absolutely stunning 105 year old prize awarded by a Regiment with an interesting history.
