I would date these c1880-90. The prints are much earlier and titled "Adelaide" and "Fonrose" the characters of a play. Here is a short paragraph from the Mass "Memorial Hall Museum Online" site........The popularity of the play "The Shepherdess of the Alps" among Americans in the early 1800s is puzzling on the surface. After all, the play is set in eighteenth-century France and its main characters are aristocrats. In fact, these elements appealed to many Americans. The Alpine setting proved irresistible to readers already attracted to the romantic poems and novels of Sir Walter Scott. The heroine's natural refinement, virtue, and nurturing behavior were all traits Americans assigned to and esteemed in women.....The prints appear to be engravings. They are hand-tinted and marked "H.Benwell pinx.t" and "F. Bartolozzi R.A. pinx.t"...The frames were re-gilded some time ago, very well done. Some slight flaws to the beaded edges here and there as well as the usual fine surface scuffing for objects this old. I have not opened them.
