$145 USD1/4 Plate Ambrotype Regal Lady - Full length Standing c1860

To view more of my Images incl. AMBROS & DAGS listed, please type PHOTOGRAPHIC into the SEARCH at upper left. A Quarter Plate measures 4.25" x 3.5" Full standing figures are much rarer in early photography than the commonly seen seated ones. The subject of this lovely Ambro is a beautiful woman of obvious means. Her silk & velvet dress is sumptuous but tasteful. At the end of her long golden chain is chatelaine, no doubt. Her ring and brooch are also highlighted with gold and her cheeks are ...

Slightly tinted cheeks & lips. The image is well focused & lit displaying excellent contrast. There are some mat marks indicating that it had been apart at one time. Possibly to tone down a blemish to the right of the gent. This is how it came to me. Housed in a lovely case with a well done repaired hinge. Cut ...
Ambrotype Stern Gentleman - 6th Plate

$95 USDAmbrotype Stern Gentleman - 6th Plate

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Ambrotypes
If you like grumpy he's your man. Found in NY State, he's well dressed & groomed and in excellent focus. The tones of his vest, suit and tie are all distinct. The Ambro is presented in the original case which has a re-enforced hinge to prevent it from breaking apart. The brass mat & retainer are as new, bright & shiny. The velvet pad has faded a tiny bit but still has a lot of punch to it. No seals. Please click on "Larger Views" for a better look. To view more of my Images listed, please type ...

To view more of my Images incl. AMBROS & DAGS listed, please type PHOTOGRAPHIC into the SEARCH at upper left A 6th Plate measures 3.25" x 2.75" c1854 -1864 were the hay-days of Ambrotypes. Some were on clear glass, some on rarer "Ruby" glass. The example here is on clear glass. Beautifully tinted. A well dressed middle class trio. But why so melancholy? Are they perhaps grieving for wife & mother? A nice clean Ambro, the only flaws are a short scrape by the boy's hand that rests on his father's ...

This c1855 -1860s Portrait of a Matron of substance is housed in an intact maroon leather case with a rich burgundy velvet pad. Gild embossed lines outline both halves when opened. It was taken by J. Extra care was taken to style her hair in the ...

SOLDSOLD Ambrotype Young Girls in White Summer Dresses - Blue Background

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Ambrotypes:Children
To view MORE IMAGES I HAVE LISTED please type PHOTOGRAPHIC into the SEARCH at the upper left. Standard Sixth Plate Size of 3.25" x 3.75" These lovely little girls were photographed in England c1855 - 1860. They are no doubt sisters. They had remained undisturbed all these years in the bottom half of a plain leather case. I removed the retainers and glass in order to scan the image. It was virtually dust free. No matt marks either. The spot seen in the blue tinted background was probably there ...
