Antiques:Bronzes

Approx. 23" high x 24" wide. Both are marked COUSTEAU and date from c1880. The Horses of Marly, monumental statues representing a group of horses, that are found at the entrance of the Champs Elysées are now at the Louvre Museum and have been replaced by copies. The originals were sculpted by Guillaume Coustou who worked in Versailles, Paris & Marly. They were executed in 1740-45 & moved to the Place de la Concorde in 1794.
