Magnificent and Rare Victorian Art Nouveau 14K Gold, Diamonds & Rubies Finger Ring Gatetop Vanity Purse, C1910. This fabulous lady's coin purse is completely made of 14 karat yellow gold (marked) weighing 78 grams. Gold mesh with three gold ball drops at bottom of purse. Expandable gatetop neck with a locking round lid set with a line of alternating Burmese rubies and diamonds. Finger ring chain attached on either side of neck. Five Diamonds, old European Cut, .30 carats estimated total weight, color G/H. Four Burmese Rubies, round, faceted cuts, .40 carats estimated total weight, medium dark to dark-purplish red, well matched. Great provenance with this very rare beauty, it belonged to Charlotte Flateau of Long Island, New York. She passed away in 1974 at the age of 91. She and her husband had tickets to go on the Titanic but she got sick two days before they were to leave and could not go (fortunately for her). Her niece found the two tickets at the time of her death. This purse is in Excellent condition with no dents, dings, no breaks or repairs. It comes with a professional appraisal from 1997. The mesh measures 3 x 2 1/2" and the gatetop neck expands from 3/4" to 1 3/4". A wonderful heirloom piece and a real gem for jewelry lovers.
