Fresh from a private collection, we offer this Gorgeous and very Rare Victorian Long Handle Sterling Silver, Emerald & Silk Swan's Down Powder Puff, C1900. The top of this fabulous sterling silver handle features a bezel set cabochon emerald. It may well be a glass emerald as using glass stones was all the rage for Victorians once they had been created. The handle is rather long compared to most at just over 1" long and set in beautiful creamy ruched silk. It is well marked along the edge of the base of the handle with the word Sterling and the makers marks "B & F". This beauty measures 3 1/2 inches in diameter and is in Excellent condition with no dents or dings to the silver. The emerald is absolutely beautiful and in Excellent condition. The Swan's Down is full and fluffy with no discoloration. These fabulous powder puffs are becoming quite hard to find, especially in good quality condition.
