Magnificent Limoges Blakeman & Henderson Art Nouveau Egyptian Revival Handpainted Nude Mata Hari Porcelain & Gold Portrait Plate, Framed and Signed, Baumy, C1905. Stunning portrait plate masterfully and superbly handpainted by the renowned Blakeman and Henderson Artist, Baumy. Exquisite nude portrait of Mata Hari, completely hand painted in one of her Egyptian Queen costumes with magnificent jewel and pearl headdress, jeweled chatelaine belt and intricate pearl necklace, which outlines both breasts. She poses seductively with fine, transparent linen draped across her hips and a beautiful gold robe wrapped behind her. Mata Hari (1876-1917) was the stage name of the Dutch exotic dancer and prostitute Gertrud Margarete Zelle, who was shot by the French as a spy on 15 October 1917. This gorgeous portrait is signed by the Artist, Baumy, famous for his portraits of beautiful women. He painted often for Blakeman & Henderson This heirloom portrait plate is bordered with a thick gold swirl design. The sensational portrait is "framed" with a thick gold gilt "frame". This masterpiece is superbly framed in a period Art Nouveau floral and leaf gold gilt frame. This stunning portrait plate measures just under 9" in diameter. The frame measures 15" square. The portrait plate is in Pristine condition with absolutely no chips, cracks hairlines or repairs. There is one gold "bead" missing in the gold work that surrounds the portrait. The frame is in Excellent condition commensurate with a highly detailed frame of this period. The porcelain was produced by the Limoges Coiffe Factory and bears Mark 3 in Green. It also bears the Blakeman & Henderson, Limoges, Frances (Script Mark #3 in green). This dates this antique heirloom work of fine art to the very early 1900's.
