Exquisite Museum Quality English Victorian Rear Garnet, Pinchbeck and Tortoise Shell Hinged Tiara Hair Comb, c1860." Absolutely gorgeous hair comb set with three rows of lovely faceted Victorian Bohemian Garnets. The stunning Garnets are set into genuine, rare Pinchbeck to create a Tiara shaped haircomb or hair ornament. The magnificent Bohemian Garnets on Pinchbeck are hinged to the genuine tortoise shell by its original rivets. The hinge is quite unusual being what I would call a "swivel" type hinge which allows the Garnet Tiara to sit all the way back on the comb and moves all the way forward which, in essence, would allow the Garnet Tiara to be set in about eight positions. A definite heirloom piece for the avid hair comb or fine jewelry collector. This beauty measures 3 1/2" in length and 1/2" wide with the Garnet Tiara measuring 2" in length and 1/4" wide. It is in pristine condition with no repairs, absolutely no cracks or breaks to the tortoise shell, Garnet setting is complete, all present, original and intact. The rare pinchbeck is in excellent condition as well as the original hinge and rivets.
