Sensational English Victorian Burgundy Red Tooled Leather & Gilt Ormolu Perfume Casket, C1895. Absolutely gorgeous burgundy red leather casket of beautiful tooled leather with gold gilt inlaid lines and fleur de lis decorating this stunning scent casket from front to back. This gorgeous scent casket was made by Rimmel of London, established in 1834 and well renowned for their perfume and cosmetics. The leather is in EXCEPTIONAL condition. The hinged casket retains its original gilt ormolu lock and its original key, which unlocks and opens to reveal the original fitted interior of beautiful red velvet with the original two matching cut glass perfume bottles. Both bottles retain their original cut glass lids with ground stoppers. The interior of the lid retains its original deep red silk lining. The bottom retains its original felt cover. This fabulous scent casket measures 4 1/2" tall, 4 3/4" in length and 3" wide. It is in EXCELLENT condition with no wear or damage to the gilt decoration or the gilt hardware.. No wear, damage or fading to the red silk or red velvet linings. The perfume bottles measure 3 1/4" tall and 1 3/4" wide. Both bottles are in Excellent condition with no chips, hairlines, cracks or repairs.
