Avon jewelry authority and author Sandra Sturdivant, in her book “Identifying AVON JEWELRY”, described this set as “gold flower with pearl, ruby and emerald accents.”

These are a beautiful signed Avon gold-tone set of clip earrings that will look so nice this Christmas.

These are gold-tone flowers with faux pearl accents, faux rubies for the center of the flowers, and emerald-colored glossy, shiny enamel leaves. On the earrings, there is a larger faux pearl on the bottom of the stem with a faux seed pearl above it.

The earrings measure 1” by 1 ½” long.

Piece of Avon History: Avon, founded in 1886 by door-to-door book salesman David Hall McConnell, began with perfumes. Avon added their jewelry line in 1965, but did not officially enter the jewelry industry until 1971. Avon never manufactured its own jewelry, but used well known designers and several firms. Most Avon pieces are marked with the designer’s identification, although there are some Avon pieces that are not marked at all. Many of the early pieces of Avon were made with Sterling, Gold and Genuine Gemstones. Packing was also an important part of the jewelry’s success. The complete package – including product and the box it came in - have become collectible items today.
