A Wedgwood Jasperware plate in Lilac with white relief decoration, this plate has a floral border with maidens watering Pegasus in the center. The plate is 6.675" in diameter. Condition is as new, no wear or damage. Marked on the back with the usual Wedgwood marks and dated 1960.

This is a great piece of Wedgwood Jasperware. It's an older shape, listed as #2391 by Wedgwood. It's a posy pot, and given the shape and decoration, this shape almost certainly dates to the 19th century. This example is of more recent production, dating from the 1970's. This vase is decorated with two scenes separated by an elaborate decorative element on either side. The two scenes on this piece are "Aurora in her Chariot" and "Cupid Asleep." I am listing a number of unusual Wedgwood round pin trays this evening. This is the second of the lot. This one, dated 1969, shows Wedgwood usual restraint: a simple laurel border surrounds a profile image of the head of Michelangelo's monumental "David." The plate is 4.5" in diameter and is backstamped thus: "WEDGWOOD / MADE IN ENGLAND / 69," with the gold stamp of the Wedgwood Collectors Society above. Condition is near mint; no wear or damage.
