Having enjoyed making a wide variety of crafts over the past 30+ years, I began to make jewelry in 2001. I discovered a new 'full service' bead shop in the little group of shops where I had been buying all my cross stitch supplies. I walked into the shop and was totally amazed at all they had to offer - I could hardly believe my eyes! Not only did they have an incredible selection of beads, but they took the time to teach (on the spot!) any new 'beader' the basics to get them started. WOW - I was hooked! They taught me how to do a crimp bead and I immediately went home and practiced for several hours before making my first bracelet.

It wasn't long before friends began to compliment my new jewelry (I had made several different items by this time) and ask where I had bought it. When I said I had made it, they asked if I would make one for them. We arranged a day to meet at the bead shop where they picked out the beads they liked and I took their purchases home with me and made their bracelet - for NO charge.

Eventually some of those same friends asked me to make bracelets for them to give as gifts to other folks. I was having so much fun it didn't seem right to charge a fee. Because they insisted, I told them a price. I then realized I might be able to make a little money this way. My business was born! After several years of craft shows and bazaars, I felt I was ready for another venue for my jewelry. I stumbled across Ruby Lane while searching for some beading supplies on the Internet.
