Fantastic Egyptian Celluloid Elephants Purse!

I would speculate that this was possibly purchased in Egypt on a "world tour" holiday. It is a clutch style and the face of it has the Sphinx and two of the pyramids, as well as a border of applied celluloid elephants. There is black piping around the edges of the purse and there is wear on that in a few places (the fold and some corners).

The back of the purse has postcard-like scenes of Egypt -- again the Sphinx, camels, the pyramids.

When you open the purse you see a mirror on the inside flap and below that a large scene -- painted details with palm trees, a scene along the Nile River, the pyramids again.

The inside of the purse is an ivory moire. There are two sides and a zippered pocket in the purse.

The purse measures 6" by 8 3/8".

It is an intriguing, rare, and quite lovely purse. It is leather and it would be nice to give it some oil for moisture, but I will leave that to its lucky new owner!
