Fascinating VICTORIAN Indian Raj Tiger Claw Pin!

When the British became most present in India in the 1850s, there arose a market place which catered to the taste of the Victorians of the time. Referred to as "Raj" era jewelry, it is one of the more sought after objects of this particular place in history.

Here is a charming example! Two natural tiger claws have been joined together with a jacket of lower karat yellow gold. At the center, there is a band that is engraved with an inscription, "H.M. to Mother."

This is dated from Victorian to approximately 1910 and was made in India for the British market.

The claws are a light honey color with shading variations. One tip has a long shallow flake that is visible with a loupe and can be lightly felt with your finger. Perhaps it was original to the tiger! Not noticeable to the naked eye.
