Black Patterned Silk Late Victorian Bodice with Glass Beading

This delightful little Victorian bodice features a large collar lapel, edged with black glass beading.

The patterned silk is lined in black cotton and is heavily boned. An interesting feature to note is the pinked edges of the seams. The front closure fastens with 17 hooks and eyes and all are present except for two on either side of the closure. The style comes to a point at the center front and back waistline.

The outer sides of the lined sleeves are gathered, giving a puffed effect. There are two hooks on either side of the center back to attach a skirt.

The fabric is strong with occasional breaks in the silk, none more than about an inch long. Most are unnoticeable due to the patterned fabric, but there are a couple that can be seen easily if one is looking top of left shoulder, center front of the left side, back top edge of neckline).
