Black Crushed Velvet Victorian Jacket

Dating to the 1890s, this nice crushed velvet jacket must have kept its Victorian owner quite toasty warm!

The black velvet is simply wonderful, with the only real wear at the top of the collar. It fastens at the center front with 11 huge metal hooks and eyes and 2 regular hooks and eyes at the collar. One of the huge hooks is missing. A cute little watch pocket on the inside lower right is in perfect shape.

The silk lining of the jacket has shattered and should be removed, but this does not affect the stability or quality of the jacket itself, as there is a secondary brown muslin lining which is nearly entirely intact.
