In the days before air conditioning, ladies carried a fan as a fashionable and functional accessory. There are even published accounts of a secret “language of the fan” from the 19th century and earlier! This fan dates to the early 20th century and is made of imitation tortoiseshell and black ostrich feathers. Measures 13 ˝” wide when extended and is 9” high. This spectacular turn-of-the-century kitchen cabinet was made by McDougall of Frankfort, Indiana. The top section features three glass doors on the top section with two shelves in each and three small storage drawers. The bottom section is a zinc dry sink with a unique pull-out work area with two drawers supported by a leg on a caster. There is a divided pull out bin and another drawer.
