Patriotic red, white and blue signed Ellen Clapsaddle Washington's Birthday postcard, printed in Germany and published by International Art Company in 1909. The deeply embossed card is numbered 51896, vertically along the verso left edge. Ellen's beautiful artwork depicts a hatchet tied with ribbons to a cluster of ripe, juicy cherries and leaves. It is signed at the base of the blade, with International Art logo at the bottom left corner.The card is Unused, in Excellent or better condition, with tiny surface tear along the top back edge (only a tiny lift to the top layer of the paper, less than 1/16", not through the stock). The gold front borders have a minute amount of rub wear to the corner tips, barely visible. A crisp, clean, highly collectible postcard. Shipped in a rigid sleeve and mailer for a safe journey.
