Highly collectible pair of 1930s 'Vaughn's Indian Store' Native American trading post postcards, depicting the exterior and interior views of this spectacular Phoenix, Arizona 1891 landmark. Both of them are detailed and amazing cards. The first is a presentation of the storefront and windows on the exterior of what was called 'Arizona's Largest Curio Shop'. The image is filled with hand-crafted tribal goods and shows Vaughn's renowned Indian Chief statue outfront. The second card reveals the Main Floor of the store, simply packed with Navajo Indian pottery, Turquoise jewelry, rugs, leatherwork, beadwork, Kachinas, silverwork belts, and much more. Renowned as the 'oldest Indian store in the Southwest', Vaugh's was previously owned by R. L. Balke, U.S. Licensed Indian Trader. One card is published by Curt Teich, Chicago in 1931 (exterior) and the other by T. C. Pigott, Phoenix in 1933. Both cards are in Excellent condition, with only a bit of rub/bend to the tips. Neither card has been posted, with clean backs, no written messages. Light ivory versos. Pencil price on back of one card, inventory number written in pen on the back of the other. Shipped in a rigid vinyl sleeve and mailer for a safe journey.
