Wonderful antique Arts & Crafts design Snake engraveable clamper bracelet~one of the most unusual hand crafted bracelets of this type we have ever seen! The mouth of the Snake holds a square white metal plate 3/4" wide, that when popped out, opens the bracelet to be clamped on the wrist. The other end has a curved hook that is the tail of the Snake, which then gradually widens and thickens as it curves up to the head. The Snake's body is also etched with x, dot, v and comma shapes to create the reptile scales. He also has a sharply detailed head, with red enameled eyes. The inner circumference is quite small, as is generally found with bracelets of the the early 20th Century, measuring 2 1/4" wide (oval) x 1 7/8', front to back~no 'wiggle room' as it will need to close. The panel has never been engraved, a high-quality and giftable piece. The weightiness and color of the metal indicates it may indeed be silver, but is unmarked so we will sell it as white metal. It is in Excellent or better condition, acquired from a Scottsdale Arizona estate.
