Extraordinary 4" Silver & Genuine AMBER Shoulder Leaf Brooch-RARE Early 20th Century

Extraordinary 4" LONG vintage shoulder brooch, a double Silver leaf set with eight genuine Amber balls set along their length! According to Nancy Schiffer in her jewelry guide, 'Plastic Jewelry', published by Schiffer Books, genuine Amber jewelry was very popular in the first quarter of the 20th Century and came in colors ranging from honey to amber to brown and brown red--even greenish hues and black! Several of those colors are represented in this piece, the Amber just beautiful and in Excellent condition, with no damage. The Amber balls have the resin 'feel' and color variations that confirm it as genuine and the balls display both the alternating clarity and marked cloudiness. Although not marked as Sterling (not unusual for pieces of this age), the 4" brooch tests as Silver and has the weight and age-appropriate patina of Silver, as well. It should polish up beautifully, if desired. Personally, we wouldn't touch it as we think the darkness of the metal offsets the Amber in a way that is most attractive. The brooch has no damage and the long wire end early locking pinset works fine, with only a very slight 'wave' to the pinstick that does not affect use.
