Wonderful ornate vintage commemorative Pope John Paul II gold medal, created for his Holiness' visit to the Phoenix Diocese in 1987. The front has a repousse' depiction of the Pope with miter and scepter, and the back with the descending Dove and small Crown. The medal is also collectible as it has the name of Bishop Thomas O'Brien in raised lettering on the bottom back edge (removed from his post after a fatal hit and run accident). The medal measures 1" and is in Excellent, undamaged condition. Has the heft and weight of 'real' gold, but has not been tested.
