Very early reverse carved intaglio Lily brooch, with brass Trombone catch! The brooch is simple and beautiful, with braided gilded ring fitting (light age-related finish wear). The outer edge of the carved piece has double beveling, creating depth and visual interest. The Trombone catch is strong and secure. There are a couple of tiny dark spots inside the brass ring mount on the reverse, not visible when worn (please see photos). The brooch measures a smaller 1 3/4", the smaller size typical of the early 20th Century eras. Lovely example of the early art of reverse carving--crisp and highly detailed.
