A truly rare find! This is an original oil on canvas painting by the Listed Virginia Artist Eunice Clay Pritchett. The painting is signed by the artist and dated in the lower right. Executed in 1935. Titled on the back of the stretcher "Lucky 13" which refers to, I believe, a triple crown winner (race horse). The work measures 24 x 20 and is housed in a period carved gold frame (normal wear and tear on the frame, but definitely usable. The painting is in good condition with the following notes: There is a small pinhole in the bottom center of the painting below and to the left the horse's back right leg. Canvas is a little loose on the stretcher. The painting gets a little rough along the bottom edge, not sure exactly how to describe this. I will provide additional images upon request. The bottom line: Painting can be displayed as is, but would benefit from a lining and cleaning. The quality of the work certainly warrants the investment. This work is truly a Southern gem capturing a moment in American history. Nice regionalist look, great colors. Perfect for a collection featuring horses, horse racing, or American scene works. You do not see this artist come up for sale often, thus this one represents a great opportunity to add to a quality collection.
