Offering this exceptional painting by the well recognized regional Iowa regional painter May M. Hohlen (1896-?). This is an original oil on canvas painting measuring 20 x 24 inches and housed in the original period frame. Signed in the lower left. Titled on the back of the painting "Bend in the Road." The label on the back of the painting states that it was painted in 1942 near Riverdale on Cape Ann. The label further states the road goes by Dogtown Commons, a place of local historical significance. The painting is in very good condition with the exception of a few scraped areas on the surface, all of which are easily repairable. The painting surface itself is nice and stable with no flaking. This painting has a very distinctive regionalist style to it giving it a great look and feel. This painting is sure to be a treasured part of a worthy collection.
