This lovely lidded silver box comes from the collection of a Shan princess and is made in the shape of a chicken depicted in a sitting posture. The stout body of the chicken adds a slightly humorous touch to the illustration and the fine chase work and the inlaid ruby eyes lend this fine piece a precious appearance. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Thailand. DATE: 1920s. MARKS: Hallmark "925" and illegible mark on the underside. MATERIAL: Silver & rubies. MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE: Casting & very fine chase work. SIZE: Length is 3.7 inches. Height is 3 inches. CONDITION: Very good ORIGINAL as found condition with few tiny nicks. Box closes hermetically.
