Raoul Dufy (1877 - 1954).
When Henri Matisse, old and bed-ridden but in full possession of his mental faculties, learned of Raoul Dufy's death, he eulogized his colleague in a brief statement: "Dufy's work will live."
Dufy was a painter of joy; his style and his subject matter reflect a joy in life and in creating works which impart to the viewer a sensuous delight. Deeply rooted in the French decorative tradition, he was an amused observer and recorder of the fashionable world around him.
This marvelous lithograph is from the George Duval Edition Portfolio number 126 on Royale de Vidalon paper. It is pictured in the book "Dufy" on Page 68.
It is in very good condition, with only one stain (?) near the signature (See photos). It measures 13 inches by 19 and 5/8 inches (printed to the edges). Appropriately and simply framed. Certificate of Authenticity from Jean-Paul Loup Fine Art-Limited Editions. I purchased this in the mid-1980s.
