Superb Unique 19th Century Pietra Dura Panelled Gilt Inkstand

This fine and very unusual 19th Century desk inkstand is in superb condition throughout. It has a stunning crisp gilt finish, intricately chased with floral designs. It is mounted with wonderful pietra dura plaques. Each plaque has either a floral or bird design. There are seven around the outside and one large one on the central lidded pot. The brass inkwell is a later addition, and beautifully made. The Pietra Dura Plaques are all in exceptional condition and free of cracks or flaws. Overall this magnificent piece measures approximately 9 inches in diameter and 4 inches in height. Truly a treasure.
