Chinese Mythological Wood Carving, Warrior on Foo Dog going to battle, c. late 19th century

This is an amazing carving! It is in excellent shape for its age. No damage whatsoever that I can find. Even the gold appears to be intact, although the color could possibly have changed with age....I'm old, but not that old to have seen it when it was created! It stands 10 and 3/4 inches tall, and 2 and 3/4 inches wide.
